Today, October 9, the 5th CIPES PhD Student Workshop took place at the headquarters of the Centro de Investigação de Políticas do Ensino Superior in Matosinhos, Portugal. Doctoral students from universities in Brazil, Iceland, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, and Spain presented and discussed their work with fellow doctoral students and academics.
The event was organised and chaired by our researcher Carlos Azevedo. This year, we were very pleased to welcome Richard Budd, Lecturer in Higher Education in the School of Social Sciences at Lancaster University, UK, and Director of the Centre for Higher Education Research and Evaluation (CHERE), as our keynote speaker. His keynote, entitled “How and where can we find space for social justice when the university doesn't care?”, created a space for reflection and debate on the current conditions of higher education and the experiences of its main stakeholders, including students, doctoral students, and academics.
We thank everyone who participated and look forward to next year’s workshop.
